Wiki Guardian

Hello. I accepted your claim to be a Wiki Guardian for ArcheAge Wiki. I'm the Wiki Manager for this wiki so let me know if you need any help with anything. --Sigilbaram (talk) 17:46, 24 September 2014 (UTC)

-- Thank you very much. I will do my best to help the wiki out as much as I can. If I run into problems I'll definitely ask you. Johnnei (talk) 18:03, 24 September 2014 (UTC)

Blocking IP addresses

Hey. Saw that you blocked an IP address permanently. We generally only block IPs for a couple weeks, because IPs are usually assigned dynamically by ISPs. Blocks on Gamepedia are shared across all wikis, so we could end up with a lot of IPs blocked, and then some legitimate contributor might get assigned a blocked IP by their ISP and not be able to edit for something someone else did. If you see the same IP coming back after a few weeks we can up the ban to a few months, or possibly consider a permanent ban if it looks like an IP spooffer (127.0.0.1 should NEVER be editing the wiki, for example, since it would be the server the wiki is on, so if it shows up it is someone faking their IP). --Sigilbaram (talk) 17:41, 26 September 2014 (UTC)

- Okey, I'll keep that in mind. Johnnei (talk) 17:49, 26 September 2014 (UTC)

Snipe

There is a third skill name "Snipe" which probably belongs to a mount, but I'm not sure which one it would be and was wondering if you know? It is this page: Data:Skills/Snipe (24020). --Sigilbaram (talk) 21:42, 26 September 2014 (UTC)

Here is a page with it in infobox format instead of the data page: Snipe (???). --Sigilbaram (talk) 21:48, 26 September 2014 (UTC)
Am afraid not. My mount unlocked Drop Back at lv15, and the only other Snipe skill I managed to find is in archery at lv55. Johnnei (talk) 07:59, 27 September 2014 (UTC)
My friend confirmed that he has Basic Snipe with the same description on his Violet Elk, but he'll only unlock it at level 20 and not level 15. Johnnei (talk) 11:11, 27 September 2014 (UTC)

Skill rank data

Over the weekend I was talking with the people who do the data dump and he figured out the skill ranks (evidently the game does awkward math rather than just having a table of values). The data I was uploading was wrong anyway since it included +5% for the two handed weapon buff and +5% from the cloth armor set buff (didn't realize those were affecting the tooltips). The skill descriptions now include the rank 9 data by default and have the other ranks embed so that we could add some javascript to dynamically change them with a slider or something once we add the js to the wiki and make any needed changes to the templates. --Sigilbaram (talk) 19:26, 6 October 2014 (UTC)

I was already trying to see if I could find patterns in them as I saw other sites just noting some equation for the values. And the +x% effects would explain why I've seen rank ups which don't seem to scale properly as well. So I probably posted some invalid data for Archery, Shadowplay and Auramancy as well then (as that is my current spec :p). --Johnnei (talk) 20:06, 6 October 2014 (UTC)
I've started working on getting this to show up. Antithesis and Resurgence are working for example. There are some skills that didn't make it, though, such as Ode to Recovery and Rhythmic Renewal. Once {{show skill rank data}} is fully complete we can make a list of any cases were the import failed, though I've already let them know about some of them. --Sigilbaram (talk) 08:47, 10 October 2014 (UTC)
Alright, if I can help with any of it feel free to ask me. I did checkout the template quickly (as I am at school right now) and saw that you use the same fix as I used in the crafting template to have loops: not and just hardcode them in. I think those templates could benefit of an extension like LoopFunctions Extension. Having loops allows for making easier edits (as you don't need to do it for each iteration). --Johnnei (talk) 09:49, 10 October 2014 (UTC)

Rarity Color

That was me editing rarity color. It logged me out for some reason. heh --Sigilbaram (talk) 17:24, 11 October 2014 (UTC)

Okey, still disagree that it's supposed to be white though. The brownish one seems to be more correct imo. --Johnnei (talk) 17:30, 11 October 2014 (UTC)
You are right... I was looking at the list in help tooltip in game and it is white in the list but then on items it is that brownish color. Strangeness. --Sigilbaram (talk) 17:51, 11 October 2014 (UTC)
The item box around the item is white, but the color of the name isn't. That one seems to be the only mismatch (afaik). --Johnnei (talk) 18:07, 11 October 2014 (UTC)

Guild pages

What do you think of having pages about guilds on the wiki? If we did do this I would put them in a separate namespace (ie Guild:Cohhilition) and have that namespace require registration (to avoid or at least lessen troll edits). It might be nice to have a place the community can reference if they want to get in touch with guild leaders or the like, find links to guild websites, or just to know what a given guild is all about. --Sigilbaram (talk) 22:51, 12 October 2014 (UTC)

I think it would be a nice thing to add. I think we should enforce the server name post-fix (fixed prefix) to prevent collisions though. --Johnnei (talk) 08:55, 13 October 2014 (UTC)

New infobox ideas

So we darkened the skin slightly so the rarity colors look somewhat better on it now (see Equipment). We could make infoboxes match the skin like on Swept-Roof Villa or we could make them look like the in game tooltips like the one on User:Sigilbaram/infobox. Or maybe even do the former for most infoboxes and only use the latter for skills and items. What do you think? --Sigilbaram (talk) 00:28, 18 October 2014 (UTC)

The darkened colors make the rarity colors stand out much better. I like the item template you have on User:Sigilbaram/infobox but I'd would only use it for items and skill (and the skills one must be improved as the in-game ones are horribly unhelpful). For other infoboxes I'd prefer normal table-ish layouts as I find them more structured. --Johnnei (talk) 07:59, 18 October 2014 (UTC)
Yeah that is what I was think. I'll update them to the new colors for now since it is an easier conversion, then work making them use the style that is in my sandbox. --Sigilbaram (talk) 10:17, 21 October 2014 (UTC)

The Data namepace

Hello. I thought I had let you know this, but it looks like I might not have? The Data namespace is only really meant to be used by the data dump bot. It is a place for the bot to put data where it knows it isn't overwriting user written content. When making a page for an item that doesn't have a data page you just fill out the infobox just like you would on any other wiki. You can see were I did this on Barley for example, or more recently on Combined Feed and Ground Grain. Sorry for the confusion. >.< --Sigilbaram (talk) 18:52, 31 October 2014 (UTC)

It's partly also my fault, Initially I thought the page would "magically" fetch the data. Later on I figured I could use force to set them but lately I saw you filling them in as normal templates. Since I've seen that I started doing that as well :). I did find some issues with the data pages (or the extension) though. Sometimes the item infobox is present another template still fails to fetch the icon information. Any idea why that might be? --Johnnei (talk) 18:55, 31 October 2014 (UTC)
Do you know an example of this error so I could see exactly what is happening? --Sigilbaram (talk) 18:59, 31 October 2014 (UTC)
Found one back: Fishing License on the Ships#Large_Vessels the {{item amount}} template fails to fetch the information for it. I've also updated the style guide to provoke people filling in the item infobox template instead of making the Data pages. --Johnnei (talk) 19:10, 31 October 2014 (UTC)
To give another example the Shatigon's Blessing is also having the same issues.

Furniture

How would you fill out the template to match the tool tip I provided on the page? I don't think it should all just be put in the description field. Ancient Tombstone Tythesly (talk) 00:32, 6 November 2014 (UTC)

So far I've commonly just entered the entire thing as description. A field "Placement" could help out a bit but as far I know that field is not currently available. --Johnnei (talk) 07:23, 6 November 2014 (UTC)

Question about template

When you look at an items tooltip in game and you see at the bottom Shop Price.... what field is that in the template? I thought it was shop value.Tythesly (talk) 01:45, 6 November 2014 (UTC)

The template documentation says the shop value parameter should be that one. Please keep in mind that the displayed value is the value of the entire stack and not the individual item.
I did what you said and looked at the template code... if I use |force buy price = it makes the result Shop Price: 30.... and that matches the tooltip. So I guess I will go back and fix that and other things on all the items i already worked on so far.Tythesly (talk) 22:50, 6 November 2014 (UTC)
I've taken a quick look at how the variables get passed around and it looks like the shop value argument is the secondary form of sell price. The shop value didn't get a force shop value but the sell price parameter does have force sell price. Now to the awkward part: the displayed shop value is the buy price on the wiki whilst in game it shows the stack vendor sell price. So for now please keep updating the correct parameters (so sell price or shop value for the sell price and buy price for the buy price). The displaying will be fixed soon with the new layout. --Johnnei (talk) 05:51, 7 November 2014 (UTC)
Ok so what parameter do I use for the shop price displayed in the tooltip then? lol--Tythesly (talk) 18:49, 7 November 2014 (UTC)

If you don't need to force it use shop value if you need to overwrite the predefined data use force sell price --Johnnei (talk) 21:07, 7 November 2014 (UTC)

Your Turn xD

I keep seeing things that I have no idea how to do with the template X(... So many fields undocumented xD. Your Turn lol.

Tempering Burnish Tooltip

Tythesly (talk) 02:16, 6 November 2014 (UTC)

I'm aware that quite some template lack exhaustive documentation but for {{Item infobox}} I commonly have to look into the template code itself to check what values I can supply it as I don't know them myself as well xD Will start adding more to them though. --Johnnei (talk) 08:01, 6 November 2014 (UTC)
Alright, Along the school day I've completed the documentation of the {{item infobox}}. If you find another template which needs more explanation feel free to poke me. --Johnnei (talk) 16:42, 6 November 2014 (UTC)

Item Infobox icons not directing to the right page

When you click on the icon it takes you to a page with that icons title... not its file page.Tythesly (talk) 23:52, 6 November 2014 (UTC)

I've tried to fix that just now but the extra argument for the icon doesn't seem to be processed correctly (Or being modified) and ended up sending you to the same page. Not sure how to fix it without modifying the rarity template (which I preferably don't as a lot of pages use it) --Johnnei (talk) 10:35, 7 November 2014 (UTC)
I was mostly talking about the item infobox icon. Icon item ####.png. I didn't know the rarity template was part of the problem.Tythesly (talk) 18:58, 7 November 2014 (UTC)
The rarity template wraps around the actual image and redefines the link to which it will link. Which results in it removing the File: part and then links wrongly. --Johnnei (talk) 19:42, 7 November 2014 (UTC)

I think it is somehow related to the item infobox template because according to the source it works at first... but then it layers the wrong thing lol. The coding in the templates don't need brackets right? When you use the link = thing.--Tythesly (talk) 23:19, 7 November 2014 (UTC)

Sourceproblem
My friend took a look at the code and this is what he said:
I think I might know where the problem is -- 1 the link parameter is told to use a substitute command that looks like it is set to be blank instead of the word FILE: which would take you to the IMAGE page of the wiki.

I do not know If I can fix this template ( not without messing up something that uses this template as it is a M A I N template ).

The problem is in the Rarity icon template this line of code.
link={{{link|{{#replace:{{{2|{{{icon|}}}}}}|File:|}}}}}
I think it is in the #replace -- it is replacing the 2nd parameter and the icon parameter with the word FILE: but it is not working as the word FILE is not being transfered back to the image thus you go to a NORMAL page called Item icon ####.png instead of FILE:Item icon ####.png--Tythesly (talk) 02:16, 8 November 2014 (UTC)
That's what I tried to say in my previous message :p --Johnnei (talk) 07:37, 8 November 2014 (UTC)
This should be fixed now. --Alianin T • C 14:48, 10 November 2014 (UTC)

Is trion lazy?

http://prntscr.com/543zu5

Korean version lists the giftpacks contents... English... Nope lol. Ok the answer is yes its the same for all chests and giftpacks XD--Tythesly (talk) 00:22, 8 November 2014 (UTC)

Question about lists and tables.

An example would be this page: One-handed Swords. Could the semantics populate a list/table automatically? Also how did that person get the ID numbers?--Tythesly (talk) 18:48, 12 November 2014 (UTC)

I assume it can do it as this [1] looks like it, but haven't messed with that too much yet. How he got the IDs is a mystery for me as well. --Johnnei (talk) 19:17, 12 November 2014 (UTC)

Template Help

Auction License isnt showing the binds on pickup???--Tythesly (talk) 01:30, 15 November 2014 (UTC)

That's a very good question, will try and figure out why it fails to show it. --Johnnei (talk) 08:38, 15 November 2014 (UTC)
Fixed it, the binds on information wasn't being send to the layout template --Johnnei (talk) 08:55, 15 November 2014 (UTC)

Another template question

Amethyst Siren Dye - Vocation and workbench??? I didn't add that xD Also do you think that it should show in the description part? Or somewhere else... Also the shop price won't listen to my force parameter :(... OK ITS NOT LISTENING TO A LOT OF THINGS LOL... Ill post the tooltip of the item on the page.--Tythesly (talk) 22:16, 18 November 2014 (UTC)

A lot of the force parameters aren't (poorly) just force <parameter name>, will work on that soon. For the vocation/workbench I'd suggest using the {{craft infobox}} template. might want to use {{clr}} along with it to make sure the craft infobox goes below the item infobox instead of next to it. --Johnnei (talk) 09:07, 19 November 2014 (UTC)
The force shop value has been corrected and the fallback to force desc if force description is not supplied has been added. --Johnnei (talk) 12:15, 19 November 2014 (UTC)
Mirage Elk - How can that have a shop value if it cannot be sold???--Tythesly (talk) 00:15, 21 November 2014 (UTC)
The templates don't deal with logic like that. If the data dump supplies both or if a user does: it will show both. Setting the shop value to 0 should hide it from the layout. --Johnnei (talk) 05:42, 21 November 2014 (UTC)
Rather than using force shop value = 0 can you make it so that if can sell = no then it automatically doesn't show shop value?--Tythesly (talk) 00:32, 27 November 2014 (UTC)

Item template again

Corrupt Ally's Wings - I added equip effect to the layout2 and item infobox template. I did not however add it to the part that works with the data dumps and user provided info... because I was scared it might break it if it isnt the exact name of a property... Now I need your help to add the gliders stats... Tooltip is on the items page.--Tythesly (talk) 22:50, 18 November 2014 (UTC)

I will check how the datapages define the information and make the boxes work with that. --Johnnei (talk) 09:07, 19 November 2014 (UTC)
Ok I will try to help out by finding it in the game data... So far I found this:
These are the colors of the text of those stats
  • #ffbb00 - High
  • #9fc93c - Moderate
  • #919191 - Low
  • #8DAB43 - Skills Name
--Tythesly (talk) 22:52, 19 November 2014 (UTC)
Update: The glider stats do not have a data property... they are part of the description. So do you just want me to use the desc field or do you think it would be better to add new fields for the template?--Tythesly (talk) 22:53, 19 November 2014 (UTC)
I'll add some new fields for them over the weekend. --Johnnei (talk) 11:28, 20 November 2014 (UTC)
I've added new fields to support the glider information. I've updated the docs and Corrupt Ally's Wings to show how to fill in the values. --Johnnei (talk) 10:32, 23 November 2014 (UTC)

Thank you!--Tythesly (talk) 19:26, 23 November 2014 (UTC)

Breeze Pet Helm

Breeze Pet Helm - How do I add the additional effects? I tried the continuous health regen field because i seen it in the template and it didnt pop up on the infobox.--Tythesly (talk) 01:30, 21 November 2014 (UTC)

I guess that the field is just not send to the layout. I will look at that over the weekend as well then. --Johnnei (talk) 05:43, 21 November 2014 (UTC)
Corrected the continuous health regen and continuous mana regen field. They were only used as properties and weren't being accepted as user input. --Johnnei (talk) 21:53, 21 November 2014 (UTC)
Last thing!!! Then I should be good for a while XD... On that page I have the tooltip... How do I show the Defense 88 Increase part of the additional effects?--Tythesly (talk) 19:26, 23 November 2014 (UTC)
Looks like that doesn't exist yet. Also additional effects as: health, mana, evasion, movement speed don't exist either. Will be working to adding those --Johnnei (talk) 20:50, 23 November 2014 (UTC)
Added those as well, look at the {{item infobox/doc}} for the variable names (or the changes) --Johnnei (talk) 20:52, 24 November 2014 (UTC)

Your the man! I fixed a typo in your coding and added the defense increase as well. Now if we can only figure out how to fix the alchemy page problem listed in the admin noticeboard lol.... Too many templates being used is the most likey cause... I cannot add anymore items to the crafting section :( --Tythesly (talk) 23:17, 24 November 2014 (UTC)

Did notice that I forgot to update the section visibility check, will fix that asap. For the alchemy page: Maybe we shouldn't list the complete recipes on that page as there will be a crap ton of {{item amount}} on that page. --Johnnei (talk) 08:23, 25 November 2014 (UTC)

Rarity color problem

Ive been working on a lot of item pages and I just recently seen that most of the items i set rarity = basic uses the crude colors... I have to force the rarity... Can you make the default basic?--Tythesly (talk) 01:57, 25 November 2014 (UTC)

Needing to force the rarity means that the datapage already defines the information. I've looked at the datapage for the upgrade ticket which lists "fixed grade = -1", so the rarity will be crude. If the rarity color doesn't show up properly if you didn't define the rarity please say so, if that's the case I'll have a look at the infobox sections which parse that information. --Johnnei (talk) 08:21, 25 November 2014 (UTC)
Ok so I put basic rarity for the Hereafter Stone and it makes it -1 still... Also I don't think I have seen a item yet with -1 (Crude) rarity yet... All items have the basic rarity colors if it doesn't show a specific rarity on the tooltip. --Tythesly (talk) 23:28, 26 November 2014 (UTC)
Crude is being used in the game. The rarity poor isn't though. The datapage for hereafter stones defines that it is crude. So it has to be forced to get overwritten. --Johnnei (talk) 09:02, 27 November 2014 (UTC)

Classes and Build Page

I think we should combine the data onto one page... agreed?--Tythesly (talk) 18:15, 26 November 2014 (UTC)

I'd say merge the builds page into the classes page (if there still are some missing xD)--Johnnei (talk) 19:05, 26 November 2014 (UTC)
I did that... but I don't have permission to change the main page from Builds to Classes.--Tythesly (talk) 23:22, 26 November 2014 (UTC)
Updated the homepage. --Johnnei (talk) 09:03, 27 November 2014 (UTC)

I lied lol.. one more thing... Costume Time!!!

Lol so since costume icons are different for male and female players... can you make it so that when you use |icon male = and |icon female = it can make it look something like this?

Costumeideaexample

An example would be at the Denim Mecha Coveralls

Nu f sk enginer001

Female Version

Nu m sk enginer001

Male Version
