Overview[]

Equipment refers to any item that can be placed in an equipment slot.

Item Quality[]

ArcheAge uses the standard color quality system found in most modern MMOs, however it has been greatly expanded compared to the standard.

Armor[]

There are 3 types of armor in the game, usable by any character:

  • Plate
  • Leather
  • Cloth

Each armor type grants a different balance of attributes. Plate offers high physical defense, Cloth offers high magical defense, and Leather offers a mix of both.[2]


Each armor piece fits in one of 7 slots:

  • Head
  • Chest
  • Waist
  • Wrist
  • Hands
  • Legs
  • Feet

Bonuses[]

Each armor type offers bonuses for wearing that armor type. The bonus is gained when 4 of your equipment is of one type and is upgraded to a strong buff when all 7 are the same type.

  • Plate 4/7: Increases Defense +3%.
  • Plate 7/7: Increases Defense +3% and max health +5%. Also decreases duration of Stun and Shackle -20%.
  • Leather 4/7: Increases Attack Speed and Evasion +3%. Increases the range of all bow skills +2m.
  • Leather 7/7: Increases Attack Speed* and Evasion +3%, bow skill range +3m, and Melee/Ranged Critical Rates +5%. Also decreases duration of Trip -20%
  • Cloth 4/7: Cast time reduced by 4%. Chance to interrupt casting when hit by an enemy is reduced by 50%.
  • Cloth 7/7: Cast time reduced by 4%. Chance to interrupt casting when hit by an enemy is reduced by 50%. Magical damage increased by 5%. The duration of the effects of control reduced by 30%.

Weapons[]

Read more at Weapons. Any class can equip any type of weapon, but be cautious as all weapon types do not offer stats that will benefit all classes.

Equipped Weapon Type Buffs[]

  • Sword: Attack speed: 1.6 or 2.0 - Bonuses available: Strength, stamina, intelligence - Damage type: slashing
  • Katana: Attack speed: 1.5 - Bonuses available: Strength, agility, spirit - Damage type: slashing
  • Axe: Attack speed: 1.7 - Bonuses available: Strength, agility, stamina - Damage type: slashing
  • Scepter: Attack speed: 1.8 - Bonuses available: intelligence, spirit - Damage type: blunt
  • Shortspear: Attack speed: 2 - Bonuses available: Strength, agility, stamina - Damage type: piercing
  • Club: Attack speed: 1.8 - Bonuses available: intelligence, spirit, strengh - Damage type: blunt

  • Nodachi: Attack speed: 2 - Bonuses available: Strength, agility - Damage type: slashing
  • Greataxe: Attack speed: 2.2 - Bonuses available: Strength, stamina - Damage type: slashing
  • Greatclub: Attack speed: 2.2 - Bonuses available: Strength, stamina - Damage type: blunt
  • Staff: Attack speed: 2.3 - Bonuses available: intelligence, stamina, spirit - Damage type: blunt

Ranged Weapons[]

  • Bow: Attack Speed: 1.0 - Bonuses Available: Strength, Agility, Intelligence - Damage Type: piercing

Shield[]

  • Shield: Bonuses available: Strength, stamina, intelligence, agility. Enables you to block ranged and melee physical attacks.

Damage Types[]

Different weapons can do different types of damage, which do different amounts of damage on different types of armor.

One-Handed Weapons[]

Axe Slashing When inflicting damage there is chance to cause bleeding on 14 sec
Club Blunt When inflicting damage there is chance to stun enemy on 1.5 sec
Dagger Piercing When inflicting damage there is a chance to increases attack speed by 21 % on 7 sec
Katana Slashing When inflicting damage there is a chance that next attack will hit critically
Scepter Blunt When inflicting magic damage there is chance to heal yourself on certain amount of HP
Spear Piercing When inflicting damage there is chance to ignore enemies Physical defense
Sword Piercing / Slashing (depends on craft) When receiving damage there is a chance to parry next attack


Two-Handed Weapons[]

Greatsword Slashing When receiving damage there is a chance to parry next attack
Axe Slashing When inflicting damage there is chance to cause bleeding on 14 sec
Bow Piercing When inflicting damage there is chance to poison target and to increase your DPS by 15, 15 sec duration (60 sec cooldown)
Greatclub Blunt When inflicting damage there is chance to stun enemy on 1.5 sec
Longspear Piercing When inflicting damage there is chance to ignore enemies Physical defense
Nodachi Slashing When inflicting damage there is a chance that next attack will hit critically
Staff Blunt When inflicting magic damage there is chance to heal yourself on certain amount of MP


Off-Hand Weapons[]

Weapon Description
Shield Shields can be used only with one-handed or right-handed weapons. It blocks ranged and melee Physical damage. Shields give bonus stats to only Intellect, Strength and/or Stamina.


Musical Instruments[]

Instruments Description
Drums Gives 30 min buff which increases Physical and Magic damage(+5%)and reduces incoming damage by 3%. Only single use once you summon it, and only lasts 7 days, after which you'll have to craft a new one.
Flute Heals certain amount of MP, top level flute gives a stat bonus(+52) to Intelligence and/or Stamina.
Lute Heals certain amount of HP, top level lute gives a stat bonus(+52) to Intelligence and/or Spirit.
Tambourine Gives a bonus to attack and cast speed, top level tambourine gives a stat bonus(+52) to Strength and/or Agility.

Instruments[]

  • Lute: Bonuses available: intelligence, spirit. Buff: Gives health
  • Flute: Bonuses available: stamina, intelligence. Buff: Gives mana
  • Drum: Bonuses available: Strength, agility. Buff: Gives attack speed buff

Notes[]

-You can swap weapons during battle, at a cost of 2 seconds global cooldown.
-It is possible to choose which stat you want in your weapon when you craft.
-Usually, a weapon can either have one bonus stat, or a mix (at the cost of smaller bonuses for each stat).
-In terms of damage, I would classify daggers/1h staves/2h staves as low, 1h weapons as medium, and 2h weapons as high.
-Staff and Scepter gives magical attack.
-Bow gives ranged attack.
-Clubs give healing power.
-Lutes gives back HP when used, flutes gives MP, and drums gives a short timed attack speed buff.[3]
